Refund FAQs:

What do I do if I can’t check my refund status?

Please verify that you have entered the correct refund amount and used the primary SSN for the return. If you do not know your refund amount, you can enter a PIN/Letter ID from a recent income tax correspondence from the CDOR. Taxpayers who do not have a PIN/Letter ID, may request one using the "Request a Letter ID" link on the Revenue Online home page (

Will receiving a "Validation Key" letter delay my refund?

The CDOR has a "Validation Key" process to help detect and prevent identity theft-related refund fraud. As part of this process, the CDOR may send you a letter by U.S. Postal Service asking you to enter information on its website to validate your Colorado refund. If you do not respond to the CDOR’s request in a timely manner, your refund may be delayed. Please visit their Taxpayer Identity Verification page to learn more (
